How do you think social media will change in the future? What other trends would you add to the mix? Are they any specific technologies that you think will gain popularity or emerge?

Personally, I believe that social media will evolve into something that no one will live with out regardless if they like it or not. At this point in time social media is just a basic start but is continuing to grow at the speed of light. As more and more people see the popularity of social media, more people are using it as a tool to broadcast information. At the same time, technology will start to evolve to support the applications of the social media sites so they can run faster. Social media become more complicated to use but for sure there will be some sort of genius like always that will make it in a way for those who are less knowledgeable about technology to be able to figure it out.

I think specific technologies that will evolve would be more of the portable devices such as Apple IPads, IPods, Blackberry’s, Samsung Androids and so on they would be more convent for people to carry around. Having Wi-Fi in every store, business or even medical building may become more noticeable in the future. Although most people already access the Internet on their phones through there data plans, they would be able to what ever they feel with out having to worry about if there signal is going to be slow, going over there data or even loosing reception

In Conclusion social media will change in ways that, as of now anyone can imagine. It will no doubt help us in the future but with great technology comes great issues. I hope that during the course of the evolution of social media they will fix every little issue out there

Social Media Elections

U.S. President Barack Obama has been touted as "the social media president" and the history books will certainly mark the 2008 election as the first to be influenced by social media. Do you think that social media will continue to play an important role in the 2012 election, or is the phenomenon over-hyped?

In the year of 2008, president Obama was elected in a time where social media was just getting started. I do believe that social media will have a big part in not only Obama’s election but also future elections to come. In today’s society I believe about 90% of Americas are associated with some sort of social media site and most of them being the younger generation, which gets teenagers more involved in politics and elections. With Presidents and or Prime ministers that use Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, or even created YouTube channels it gives them a way to display there ideas and are able to communicate with communities and for those communities to communicate back which helps to cut campaigning costs, it also saves the time of the governor, senator or who ever the competitor might be. Doing some research in 2008, Obama did a campaign “Yes We Can” and posted videos upon the Internet, and from that he got positive and negative feedback of thousands who watched which was one of the main reasons he was elected. Today Obama has an official Facebook page with over 35 million likes and a twitter account with 28,609,863 followers which again helps to cut advertising cost by million just because of social media. Personally speaking if I wanted to find out something about elections or what Obama’s campaign has to offer there’s no need in searching the newspapers just search it on Facebook and Twitter and everything you need to know is right in front of your eyes.

Social media has allowed everyday citizens to become authors, editors, and publishers of news and information. Do you believe that social media has increased the quality of news and information or decreased it?

Social media has allowed everyday citizens to become authors, editors, and publishers of news and information. Do you believe that social media has increased the quality of news and information or decreased it? In my opinion, social media has decreased the quality of news and information for a many number of reasons. One main reason is that in the times of today almost anyone can go online and write there own theories and create false rumours that could cause a lot of major issues world wide. Social media indeed has opened up the world of news and information making it very accessible to everyone in the world weather it could be in news broadcastings over the Internet even on billboards, but at the same time, it also makes readers to be less interested. The major problem is knowing whether or not the information that your brain is processing is true and accurate and can be trusted. You really have to be sure about what you are reading and whether or not it is from a reliable source or someone being bored and decided to create some random story that would capture the attention of millions.  There are many examples of false information on the web such as medical symptoms. Many people when they are feeling ill browse the web for their medical symptoms when they do find out what the web tells them they get scared make a doctors appointment and turns out to be something totally different and nothing to worry about.

Nevertheless, not all websites are to be blamed for having false information. Some websites has legit information that can be trusted and can lead you in the path that wont get you in trouble. So just because you read something on the web don’t go spreading it right away unless you know fully well that the information you hold is true.
